Toprak Razgatlıoğlu Had Physical Problems Before Indonesia Crash, Dovizioso Says
Yamaha test rider Andrea Dovizioso said Toprak Razgatlıoğlu was already dealing with physical issues before his crash at the Indonesian Grand Prix. The Turkish rider will miss the rest of the 2026 season after shoulder surgery.
Toprak Razgatlıoğlu was already struggling with some physical problems before his crash at the Indonesian Grand Prix. Andrea Dovizioso, Yamaha's test rider, made the claim on his YouTube channel. Turkey's MotoGP representative was in his first season with Pramac Yamaha and will not race for the rest of the 2026 season.
What happened at the Indonesian GP?
Razgatlıoğlu crashed at high speed during practice ahead of the Indonesian Grand Prix and dislocated his right shoulder. The Turkish rider managed to put the shoulder back in place himself and went on to take part in the qualifying sessions and the Sprint race. Pain from the injury prevented him from finishing Sunday's race.
It was then decided that he would sit out the rest of the season and undergo surgery. Razgatlıoğlu had the operation in recent days. His main goal is to return fully fit for the 2027 season, which is why he will also miss the Valencia test at the end of the season.
What did Dovizioso say?
The Italian rider said Razgatlıoğlu needed surgery and would then work to recover. According to Dovizioso, the Turkish rider had already been dealing with minor problems before. The shoulder condition worsened after the crash.
Dovizioso said that getting treatment, returning to full physical fitness and preparing this way for next year's new rules was the right decision.
MotoGP will switch to 850cc engines and Pirelli tyres in the 2027 season. That technical change could be a fresh start for Razgatlıoğlu. The rider's priority is to fully heal his shoulder and enter the new season physically ready.
