Tofaş rolls out its 7.5 millionth vehicle from Bursa line, a Fiat Ulysse

Tofaş has built its 7.5 millionth vehicle at its Bursa plant. The model that reached the milestone is the Fiat Ulysse. Since production began on the site in 1971 with the Murat 124, the plant has continued to build passenger cars and light commercial vehicles for both the domestic market and export.

Bursa plant's production history

Tofaş was founded in 1968 and moved into series production in Bursa in 1971. In the early years, the plant employed about 600 people and had an annual capacity of 20,000 units. That capacity now stands at around 500,000 units a year.

The company passed each million-unit mark with a different model. The 1 millionth vehicle was a Fiat Tempra and the 2 millionth was a Fiat Palio Go. The 3 millionth and 4 millionth vehicles were Fiat Fiorinos. Later milestones were reached with the Egea family: the 5 millionth vehicle was the Egea Hatchback, the 6 millionth the Egea Sedan, and the 7 millionth the Egea Cross Wagon.

K0 and K9 projects bring multi-brand production

With Stellantis' Turkish operations now combined under Tofaş, the company's agenda includes new model investments and multi-brand production. The K0 and K9 projects at Bursa are part of that plan. They are intended to increase the variety of vehicles built for different brands, as well as total output.

Tofaş CEO Cengiz Eroldu said the company aims to expand production volume and product range with the new investments. According to the timeline Eroldu outlined, Tofaş plans to resume exports to the North American market under the K0 project at the start of 2027.
