Tesla's third-quarter profit fell 43% from a year earlier to $787 million in the July-September period of 2026, the company said in its earnings report. Net profit stood at $1.4 billion in the same quarter last year.

Revenue was flat year on year at $28 billion. Automotive revenue dropped 3% to $20.6 billion. Earnings per share fell to 22 cents from 39 cents in the third quarter of 2025. According to the report, revenue and profit still came in above market expectations.

Production rises, deliveries fall

Tesla built 464,391 vehicles worldwide in the quarter. Production rose 4% from a year earlier, while deliveries fell 2% to 486,532 units.

The company said battery supply was the main constraint on raising output during the quarter. Tesla added that it had made significant progress in securing supply for the future.

FSD and new products

Tesla said the adoption rate of its Full Self-Driving (Supervised) system on new vehicle deliveries in North America rose above 75%. The company said demand has increased in markets where the system is offered, while talks with regulators continue in other markets to win approval.

The company also pointed to the launch of its robotaxi service in Austin with Cybercab vehicles on September 3, and the unveiling of the next-generation Roadster on October 15. Tesla said it continues to invest in research and development and capital spending across all of its businesses, including AI, robotics and energy.
