Electric Mercedes-Benz GLA debuts in Paris with 85 kWh battery, 619 km range

Mercedes-Benz's electric model offensive added another link at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. The all-new, fully electric GLA on the brand's stand was one of the most talked-about compact SUVs at the show. The model is positioned as one of the 40 new models Mercedes is targeting in its electric transformation, and it moves the brand's entry-level SUV family onto a new technical foundation.

The electric GLA follows the path laid by the previously renewed CLA, GLB and GLC. As with those models, the GLA uses an 800-volt electrical architecture.

Technical specifications

Power comes from an 85 kWh battery pack. According to figures released by Mercedes-Benz, the battery allows up to 619 kilometers on a single charge under the WLTP standard. Propulsion is handled by an electric motor producing 200 kW, or 272 horsepower.

Design cues borrowed from the GLC stand out. Mercedes star motifs appear in the headlights and lighting units, while flush door handles and lines aimed at reducing wind resistance highlight the car's aerodynamic approach. One of the benefits of the electric platform is an additional storage compartment under the hood, which supplements the conventional trunk space.

Cabin and pricing

Inside, a wide screen layout stretching across the dashboard combines the instrument cluster and infotainment functions. A panoramic glass roof enhances the sense of space, and rear-seat knee room is said to be satisfactory. The rear windows, as in the CLA, are operated via a single switch that toggles between front and rear, a detail users will need to get used to.

In Germany, prices for the electric GLA are reported to start at around €44,000 and rise to as much as €65,000 depending on battery and equipment choices. With this price range, the model will compete directly with rivals in the premium compact electric SUV segment.

The new GLA stands out as one of the examples that make concrete Mercedes-Benz's shift to a shared technical platform for its electric compact models.
