Most supercar owners rarely take their cars out of the garage, hoping to avoid depreciation. Low-mileage examples fetch higher prices at auction. Doug DeMuro, the automotive YouTuber and founder of Cars & Bids, took exactly the opposite approach with his Ford GT. Now he has put that well-used GT up for sale on his own auction platform, with no reserve price.

The 2005 Ford GT shows 45,800 miles on the odometer, roughly 14,400 of which DeMuro drove himself. At the time the source report was published, bidding had reached $506,000. The auction ends Oct. 17.

More power from small tweaks

Finished in Midnight Blue Metallic, the car retains its original 5.4-liter supercharged V8. The engine, however, has been fitted with a smaller supercharger pulley. From the factory, the engine produced 550 horsepower (410 kW) and 678 Nm of torque, but there is no dyno sheet showing how much power the change added. Power goes to the rear wheels only through a six-speed manual transmission.

Other modifications are limited to a Ford Racing short shifter and an Alpine infotainment unit. The original exhaust, audio system and shifter linkage come with the car, so the new owner can return it to factory specification if desired.

Two owners, a complete history

The Ford GT has had only two owners. DeMuro bought it in September 2018 from automotive journalist Karl Brauer, who had purchased it new. Both owners documented the car's history in considerable detail.

Documents included in the sale feature the factory build book showing production checks, the original order form, two window stickers and period Ford promotional materials. Brauer recorded every fuel stop he made from 2005 to 2018 in a logbook. Numerous videos shot at various points in the car's life are also available.

The high mileage shows. The listing notes stone chips on the front end and diffuser, wear on the seats, scratches on the shift knob and clear-coat deterioration on one wheel.

When he first bought the car, DeMuro said he was looking for a GT he could drive freely without its value dropping sharply as the miles added up. The YouTuber is not leaving the Ford GT world entirely, though. According to DeMuro, he is selling this car to find a Heritage Edition.
